At the heart of Cote d’Azur, Haut-de-Cagnes is a small village that has successfully preserved its medieval character and authentic Provençal charm. This village is a favorite location for artistic expression and a gathering place for prominent figures of the art world.
Built in the 13th century, Chateau Le Cagnard is an exceptional stone dwelling which is well located in the Medieval village of Haut-de-Cagnes, between Nice and St-Paul-de-Vence. Its history is closely tied to that of the Château Grimaldi, which dates back to the 14th century: the Guard Room in particular, with its arched fireplace, is evidence of its Medieval heritage, a time during which Knights protected the village and its château.
After undergoing a complete renovation in 2012, that included the faithful restoration of Emile Wéry’s frescoes and the antique furniture, the hotel reopened its doors to the public and continues to function like a family home with the same passion and devotion as it did in its very beginnings.
Chateau Le Cagnard offers a beautiful panoramic view on the Mediterranean sea. It is situated in the alleyways of the village. There are public parking at 300 metres (with payement) and other free outside public parking . If all parking are full, there is another one at 2km from the village. The hotel proposes a free service for getting back the clients to the hotel with their luggage.
A few kilometres from Chateau Le Cagnard, there is the Renoir Museum where the French painter Renoir has lived with his family during the 12 last years of his life.
Since summer 2015, the hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotel of the World.
